A Fall River resident and business owner has dropped out of the mayoral race.

On the Bobby Couto podcast on Sunday, Christopher Silvia stated he is out of the campaign business completely.

Silvia went on to say that if he had been involved in politics previously, that he likely would not have ran and put his friends and family through having to read some of the things that were said about him.

When discussing those saying that he didn’t want to debate, Silvia stated that he didn’t want to get up in front of seasoned politicians and be ripped to shreds, but he would have.

Silvia mentioned that he felt he did miserably at the Flint forum and was nervous. He also said that minutes before he was set to be at the forum, a media platform company sent him a text telling him not to do the debate that there was a conspiracy to rip him apart.

Silvia also touched on Jo Goode’s investigating and texts that he received implying that city government was trying to dig up dirt on him.

“There is a machine that the public doesn’t know about that is trying to keep the public down”, Silvia said.

Silvia feels that the political climate isn’t conducive to people with good intentions wanting to run for office and wasn’t comfortable with what running for mayor entailed such as asking for money and having campaign signs.
