Charges being upgraded to murder in fatal shooting of 23-year-old Samuel Waters
The man detained during the initial investigation into the Saturday morning homicide in Mansfield will have his charges upgraded.
According to Gregg Miliote of the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office, on Sunday, 22-year-old William O’Brien of Manchester-By-The-Sea was charged with Carrying an Illegal Firearm and Carrying a Loaded Illegal Firearm.
DA Thomas Quinn stated Monday morning that he is filing an upgraded murder charge in Attleboro District Court this morning when O’Brien will be formally arraigned.
The Southeastern Massachusetts Regional Emergency Communications Center received a 911 call Saturday at 11:11 am reporting a shooting at 42 West Church Street. When first responders arrived on scene, they located Samuel P. Waters, 23, of Mansfield, who was already deceased.
Massachusetts State Police detectives assigned to the district attorney’s office, Homicide Unit prosecutors and Mansfield Police continue to investigate the Saturday morning homicide.
