Cause of death released after missing student found dead in East Providence
A man that had been reported missing recently was found deceased and police have released a cause of death.
Jeff (Jeffrey) Schlyer, a Brown University student, had been reported missing on Friday January 6th. He was last heard from at approximately 2:00 a.m. Those who knew Schlyer believed that he was on a bike ride shortly after his disappearance.
According to East Providence Police and the Providence Journal, Schlyer died from a fractured spine when he crashed his bike inside of a construction area near the Henderson Bridge.
A friend who was searching for Schlyer found him at the scene on Sunday morning.
Schlyer was majoring in Applied Mathematics at the college and was known for his kindness and sense of humor.
Services for Schlyer have yet to be announced.
