Fall River, MA — Mayoral candidate Carlos Cesar today issued the following statement regarding Christopher Silvia’s decision to withdraw from the mayoral race, though his name will remain on the ballot:

“I am saddened to announce that Christopher Silvia has decided to withdraw from the mayoral race, although his name will still appear on the ballot. This news reflects a troubling pattern within our city’s political environment, where political retaliation stifles new voices. Such actions deter individuals from stepping forward to serve on the school committee, city council, or mayoral office.

In our community, differing opinions should invite healthy debate, not personal attacks. Recently, our united effort for the Gabriel House showcased Fall River’s true spirit of togetherness. We must harness that spirit to reclaim our city, ensuring every voice is heard and respected.

While we may have some different viewpoints for the city, I would like to wish him success in all his future endeavors. I call upon our community to unite, support my candidacy, and work together for an open, transparent administration. Let’s hold the door open for transparency and accountability, taking decisive steps toward a brighter future for Fall River.”
