Cape Cod motorcycle rider seriously injured, one of 5 transported, after collision

Several people were transported to the hospital after a collision in southeastern Massachusetts.

According to police, on Thursday May, at approximately 8:00 p.m., the Bourne Police Department received numerous 911 calls regarding a motor vehicle collision involving a motorcycle. The collision was reported to be at the intersection of the Mid-Cape Connector and Sandwich Road. Initial reports indicated that the sole operator of the motorcycle was on the ground with injuries.

Officers responded along with Bourne Fire and Rescue.

The collision involved a black, 2016 Harley Davidson XL-1200 and a grey, 2015 Nissan Pathfinder.

The operator of the motorcycle, a 32-year-old man from Sandwich, was initially treated by an off duty EMT and transported to a regional trauma center with significant injuries. The operator of the Nissan, a 27-year-old female from Hyannis, her adult passenger, and two juveniles, were transported to an area hospital for evaluation.

The collision resulted in traffic being rerouted from the area and is currently under investigation by the Cape and Islands Accident Reconstruction Team.

The Bourne Police Department thanked the off duty EMT, Bourne Fire and Rescue, Massachusetts State Police, Cape and Islands Accident Reconstruction Team, and Mass DOT for their assistance.
