Brockton teen avoids prison time in Fall River Superior Court accused of Accessory After the Fact after teen girl was shot in the face
A Massachusetts teenager has been sentenced in Fall River Superior Court concerning the shooting of another teen earlier this year.
According to court records, during a change of plea hearing for a charge of Accessory After the Fact, 19-year-old Xavion Barnes of Brockton received the judge’s decision of Continued Without a Finding until 12/02/2027. In such a ruling, the defendant acknowledges enough facts for a guilty finding, but the court postpones a guilty verdict and places the case on probation. If he successfully completes the probation period, the case is dismissed; otherwise, a guilty finding may be entered, and he will be sentenced.
In late October, 19-year-old Anthony Lopes of Brockton pleaded guilty in Fall River Superior Court to five felony charges: armed robbery, assault and battery with a firearm, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon inflicting serious bodily injury, possessing a firearm without a license, and possessing a large-capacity firearm. He was sentenced to no less than two years and six months to no more than three years in state prison, followed by a two-year probationary period, which includes conditions of staying away from the victim.
The victim, a 16-year-old female, was found by police suffering from a gunshot wound to the face outside the Avalon Apartment Complex located on Robert Drive in Easton on January 14th.
Antonio Fonseca, 19, of Brockton, is also facing charges of Accessory After the Fact in connection with the shooting.
