Brockton 4-year-old who died from injuries sustained in drowning remembered as bright light

BROCKTON – A four-year-old child who died early Monday morning following a drowning incident in Brockton Sunday afternoon is being remembered.
Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy Cruz announced that Brockton Police and emergency medical services responded to reports of a child drowning at a residence on Sunset Avenue shortly before 3:00 p.m. on Sunday.
The child, identified as four-year-old Hendrix Cooley-Walker, was transported to a Boston area hospital and succumbed to his injuries at about 1:30 a.m. Monday.
According to a post, “Hendrix was a bright light—full of love, laughter, curiosity, and the kind of joy only a child can bring. His presence touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. His smile was radiant, his heart pure, and his love for life undeniable.”
The Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit assigned to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office started an investigation into the circumstances which led to this fatal drowning incident following the child’s death. The investigation is ongoing.
