A local man is accused of stabbing two of his relatives multiple times.

According to police, on Monday, at approximately 5:00 p.m., the Bristol RI Police Department was dispatched to Wood Street for a report of a Domestic Disturbance.

Upon arrival, officers were confronted with a man who would later be identified as 43-year-old Eric Squires of Wood St standing in the hallway. Squires was covered in blood and was not responsive to police instructions.

Inside the apartment officers located two adult female victims who had received multiple stab wounds during a domestic altercation inside the apartment.

Officers’ subsequent investigation determined that Squires had been part of a domestic disturbance inside the apartment and during that disturbance he stabbed the two adult female victims repeatedly.

Squires was taken into custody, and the female victims were transported to RI hospital where they were treated. Both victims were in stable condition upon transport to the hospital.

Squires was on bail for a previous domestic assault arrest and was arraigned in 2nd District Court Tuesday for two counts of Felony Domestic Assault on persons over the age of 60 resulting in serious bodily injury, two counts of assault with a deadly weapon in a dwelling house, one count of weapons other than firearms prohibited, one count of possession of a knife during the commission of a felony, one count of Domestic Disorderly Conduct, and one count of violation of a no contact order 2nd offense.

Squires was remanded to the ACI pending his next court appearance.

Chief Kevin Lynch of the Bristol Police Department credited the Bristol Fire Department and Bristol Police Department first responders for their quick decisive action and the life saving measures engaged in as part of their response to this crime.

The matter is still under further investigation at this time.
