BROCKTON – A Taunton woman has pleaded guilty to her role in an organized, counterfeit coupon operation that stole nearly $27,000 in product discounts, Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy Cruz has announced.

42-year-old Jacqueline White pleaded guilty Thursday in Brockton Superior Court to one count of Larceny by False Pretense under a Single Scheme. She was sentenced to two and a half years incarceration, suspended for a period of three years. The Commonwealth had recommended a sentence of 2 to 3 years in state prison, citing the extended duration of the scheme and the number of stores impacted.

White and co-defendant Crystal Travis were charged after a monthslong investigation by the Hingham and Abington Police Departments with the support of the Florida-based Coupon Information Center, a non- profit association that fights coupon fraud.

White and Travis were accused of entering numerous Stop and Shop grocery stores in Massachusetts from March 10, 2023 through June 2, 2023 using counterfeit coupons to steal approximately $26,547 of products. It was also alleged that White and Travis operated a complex scheme using social media sites and apps like Facebook and Dropbox to purchase counterfeit coupons.

Investigators found that White and Travis purchased hundreds of products from Stop and Shop stores located in: Quincy, Weymouth, Raynham, Plainville, Whitman, Abington, Pembroke, Norwell, Hingham, North Dartmouth, New Bedford, Sandwich, Brockton, East Providence, R.I. and Pawtucket, R.I.

Travis was given a continuance without a finding in June 2024 in Plymouth Superior Court.

The case against White was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Alex Zane and investigated by the Hingham and Abington Police Departments.
