Bristol County Sheriff’s Office creates new senior leadership position focused on inmate services
DARTMOUTH – The Bristol County Sheriff’s Office is hiring for a new senior management position leading all aspects of inmate care.
The Director of Inmate Services will report to Sheriff Paul Heroux and will oversee inmate medical, mental health, food, commissary, re-entry, substance abuse programming, and other services geared to reduce recidivism.
“Currently, there is no strategic approach. This position, and the reorganization under it, changes that,” Sheriff Heroux said. “My goal is to have a continuum of care starting at the time of admission. This position is critical to that mission. While inmates are in our custody, we want them bettering themselves by taking classes, participating in rehabilitation programs, and learning new skills. When they leave our custody, we want to connect them with housing, health care, and employment.
“The Director of Inmate Services will drive our decisions, our staff, and our inmates toward these goals.”
The ideal candidate has previously run or assisted in the running of a hospital, CVNA, nursing home, jail or correctional institution with experience in managing food preparation, medical services, and programming.
A bachelor’s degree is required with a master’s degree or higher preferred, including a JD/MD Candidates must have a minimum of 10 years of management and supervisory experience in direct care and residential services. More details and a full job description can be found on the employment page of the BCSO website, http://www.bcso-ma.us/employment.htm.
Interested applicants can submit a resume and cover letter to Caitlin DeMelo in Human Resources via email: CaitlinDeMelo@bcso-ma.org.
“We want to reform the system and stop the revolving door of inmates being released and coming right back to jail. This is something I campaigned on from day one and promised during my inauguration address,” Sheriff Heroux said. “The Director of Inmate Services will play a critical role in making our communities more safe by reducing the number of people who reoffend. This career is perfect for someone who wants to make a difference in peoples’ lives and have an enormous impact on our community.”

Maybe the idiot Hodson wouldn’t have had the problems he had if he tried new things and fixed the problems like some cells lack of toilets which meant those cells didn’t have locks! And Heroux is still trying to settle all of Hodson’s lawsuits! Your real problem is you love d****** Trumpublicans and hate smart Democrats. You live in six most prosperous state in the country ran by Democrats. I believe there’s only one red state that breaks the top 10. Oh and we have the sixth lowest crime rate in the country! Yay for smart law & order!
If we hadn’t evolved we’d still be dragging our knuckles like you! Hodson’s real riot cost $2 million dollars! Short memory???

That’s ‘Sherriff Hodgson’ to you, Lefty Karen !
Baby Huey Heroux is gonna be sweet to all the gang-bangers in the lock-up ? …. aww that’s nice and progressive.
If you baked these savages a chocolate cake every day and spoon fed them they still gonna agitate and riot cause that’s what they do ..its who they are .. its in their mud blood. Also, they like being locked up with all their Hommies… makes them feel special.

This is county jail and most of the people are in for drunk driving, drug possession and simple assault. Unfortunately the ones waiting for trail are the ones that get put in cells with no locks and it’s been like that for the whole time Hodson was sheriff. Somebody’s like the ones that started to disturbance are very odd clock criminals that one convicted go to state prison.
Unfortunately Hodson’s mess can’t be fixed overnight and too much of the budget is going to settle lawsuits from the Hodson administration that should have never happened but only because he’s a hardhead like you!
