Bristol County man with extensive criminal history charged after Boston Police seize drugs, gun, cash

BOSTON – A Bristol County man is facing numerous charges following a traffic stop in Dorchester this week during which police found drugs, a firearm, ammunition and cash in his car, Suffolk District Attorney Kevin Hayden announced.

26-year-old Pedar Legendd of Attleboro was charged in Dorchester BMC Wednesday with unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of a loaded firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, possession with intent to distribute Class A, B, and D narcotics, illegally tinted windows, and speeding. Judge Rebeca Figueroa set bail at $5,000 and ordered Legendd to return to court August 26 for a pre-trial hearing.

On July 30 at about 8:28 pm police officers of the Youth Violence Strike Force were out on a patrol near Stockton Avenue in Dorchester. While stopped at a red light on Washington Street, the officers observed a grey Nissan Altima turn onto the street and travel at an excessive speed, prompting the officers to activate their lights and sirens for a stop.

The vehicle then pulled in between two parked cars as if it was going to be parked. The car then pulled forward a few car lengths, continuing a slow roll before pulling into another open space. As officers exited their vehicle, they saw the driver, later identified as Legendd, turn to the right then lean down while putting his window down. Officers advised him that he was being stopped for speeding.

Officers saw cannabis chocolate bars in the vehicle as well as multiple igloo coolers in the back seat. Officers removed Legendd from the vehicle to conduct a pat frisk. Officers pulled a canvas bag from Legendd’s left front pocket. Inside were numerous empty plastic bags. Another canvas bag found in the car contained a scale, plastic bags containing a white rock thought to be crack cocaine, plastic bags with a white powder substance, a spoon, and plastic bags with blue pills believed to be fentanyl. An officer also recovered a black plastic bag from the rear pocket of the passenger seat containing a black Ruger 9mm EC9 with one round in the chamber and four rounds in the magazine.

Officers also seized 25 bags of marijuana and $1,080 in cash. Legendd’s criminal record spans from 2013 to 2017, including various drug charges, unarmed robbery, shoplifting charges, and operating a motor vehicle under the influence.

“In Boston and every other community in America, guns and drugs are a combination that too often lead to bad outcomes for individuals, for neighborhoods and for police. Whenever both can be taken off the street without incident it’s a boost for the entire community,” Hayden said.
