WEST BRIDGEWATER — Chief Timothy Nixon reports that the West Bridgewater Police Department arrested and charged a Bristol County man following an investigation into a hit-and-run crash.

On Friday, at just before 2:15 p.m., West Bridgewater Police responded to a motor vehicle crash at the intersection of North Main and Matfield streets.

A preliminary investigation revealed that a motorcycle was operating erratically and passing vehicles on North Main Street when it collided with a truck that was exiting Matfield Street.

The motorcycle operator immediately fled the scene and could not be located at that time.

A passenger on the motorcycle sustained significant injuries and was transported to a local hospital in serious condition.

Through the investigative efforts of Sgt. Todd Cantalupo and Officers Gerard Julien-Suarez, Christopher Huyghe, and Stefano D’Emilia, the suspect was identified as 28-year-old Zachary Adomaitis of Raynham.

On Sunday, Officer D’Emilia arrested Adomaitis, who also had a warrant for his arrest out of Brockton District Court. Adomaitis was found to be in possession of cocaine.

He was charged with Possession of a Class B Drug, Leaving the Scene of an Accident with Personal Injury, Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Suspended License, Reckless Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Attaching Wrong Plates to Conceal Identity, Uninsured Motor Vehicle, Marked Lanes Violation, Unregistered Motor Vehicle, and Motorcycle Passenger Violation (No Helmet).
