Bristol County District Attorney releases preliminary investigation into fatal train collision

Bristol County District Attorney Thomas Quinn, III has announced a pedestrian fatality at the Attleboro Train station yesterday afternoon. 

At just after 2:45 p.m., Attleboro Police were dispatched for a person struck on the train tracks at the MBTA station located at 133 South Main Street in the City of Attleboro. 

The investigation revealed that an adult male was observed walking on the train tracks at mile marker 196.95 in between tracks 2 and 4 as a train approached.  The male then entered track 2, the track of the train, and was subsequently struck by the train.  The train had left New Haven and was enroute to Boston.

The investigation into this matter is ongoing by the Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit assigned to the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office along with the Attleboro Police Department. 

Official identification of the decedent is pending from the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
