Bristol County District Attorney identifies victim in fatal multi-vehicle highway crash in Taunton that also injured 2 others
Bristol County District Attorney Thomas Quinn, III has announced a fatality related to a motor vehicle crash on Monday on Winthrop Street (Route 44) in Taunton.
Taunton Police and EMS were dispatched to a serious motor vehicle crash in front of 595 Winthrop Street after receiving multiple 911 calls at approximately 10:10 a.m. Monday morning.
Upon arrival, police located a white BMW perched on a parking bumper in front of 595 Winthrop Street. The BMW had catastrophic damage to the driver’s side of the vehicle.
The sole occupant and driver was located outside of the vehicle with traumatic injuries. She was identified as 44-year-old Ivonne Caicedo Gallego of Taunton, MA and pronounced deceased on scene.
A second vehicle, a black Kia SUV was also located with damage behind the white BMW. The male operator and female passenger were both transported to Rhode Island Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
A black semi-truck with a detached trailer was found to have been struck in the rear tire and two other motor vehicles sustained minor damage as a result of the crash.
The investigation into this matter is active and ongoing by the Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit assigned to the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office, the Massachusetts State Police CARS Unit and the Taunton Police Department.
