Bristol County District Attorney Thomas Quinn, III has identified the man killed in a motor vehicle fatality that occurred Wednesday evening.
Easton Police and EMS were dispatched to the area of 676 Turnpike Street at approximately 6:45 p.m. after receiving 911 calls reporting a serious motor vehicle crash where one of the vehicles burst into flames.
Upon arrival, police located two vehicles that were involved in a collision. The first vehicle was a tractor trailer truck with damage to the front end along with a work style van that was fully engulfed in flames. The operator, and sole occupant, of the tractor trailer was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries. Police located a single occupant in the work van who was pronounced deceased.
34-year-old Danidelson “Nilton” Monteiro of Brockton has been identified as the sole occupant of the work van that caught fire.
According to a GoFundMe fundraiser, Monteiro leaves behind his loving wife, Kivia, and their young son.
“Nilton’s greatest pride was his family. He worked every day to be the best father he could be, and anyone who saw him with his son knew how deeply he loved him. He poured his heart into building a warm, happy home, and his love for Kivia and their little boy showed in everything he did.”
The investigation into this matter is still ongoing by the Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit assigned to the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office along with Easton Police.
