Bristol County District Attorney Thomas Quinn, III has announced a fatal paramotor crash that occurred Sunday morning at the Myricks Airport, 168 Padelford Street in Berkley, MA.

The Myricks Airport is a large open field where single engine aircraft can both take off and land from a grass runway.  Paragliders and paramotors can also launch and land by foot from the airfield.

Berkley Police received a 911 call at 9:40 a.m. from a witness who reported a single seat paramotor crash at the Myricks Airport.

Upon arrival, Berkley Police and EMS located a large divot in the field closest to Padelford Street.   63-year-old Gary Williams of Cranston, RI was located approximately 15-20 feet away and found with life threatening injuries.  Williams was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

Police were also directed to the damaged single seat paramotor operated by the decedent.  The paramotor was observed by police to have fuel leakage and a propellor that was broken in multiple locations.

This matter is under investigation by the Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit assigned to the Bristol District Attorney’s Office along with the Berkley Police Department.
