More information has been released concerning an officer involved shooting in Fall River.

On July 15, 2025, Bristol Count District Attorney Thomas M. Quinn, III announced that Massachusetts State Police assigned to the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office were investigating an officer involved shooting that took place early that morning at 117 Langley Street in Fall River.

Members of the Fall River Police Department were dispatched to that address at approximately 1:30 am for a call indicating a male inside of the residence was armed with a firearm and making statements of self-harm.  Once residents were evacuated from the home, Fall River police attempted to negotiate with the armed male inside.  After negotiation attempts proved not to be successful, the Fall River Police made entry into the residence at approximately 3:15 am.  There was an exchange of gunfire inside of the residence and a lone 38-year-old male, identified as Domonick Knight, was located on the second-floor landing.  Two firearms were also located within close proximity of Knight.  It was determined that Knight had suffered a gunshot wound, was transported for treatment and subsequently pronounced deceased at a local hospital.

The DA stated that the investigation into this matter has determined that Knight, who was in possession of firearms, was the first to fire a weapon.  The decedent fired his weapon at police shortly after their entry into the residence.

An autopsy conducted by the Massachusetts Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has also determined the manner of death of Knight who died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound and the manner of death has been ruled a suicide by the OCME.

Investigative steps are ongoing.
