Bristol County District Attorney Thomas Quinn, III announced that a dangerous local man was released on bail after a dangerousness hearing in the Taunton District Court before the Honorable Sarah Jubinville.

Justin Brown-Madison was arraigned on an Assault and Battery by Means of a Dangerous Weapon along with a Domestic Assault and Battery stemming from an incident on March 10th, 2026, in Taunton.

The victim alleged that Brown-Madison, the father of her child, became angry with her and grabbed her by the back of the hair and stabbed her in the hand.  Officers observed a wound to the victim’s hand and located a broken knife on the landing to the 2nd floor and the knife blade in the driveway.

At the time of the incident, Brown-Madison had an open Plymouth County Superior Court case where he was charged with Firearms and Drug Trafficking offenses.

The Commonwealth requested a dangerous hearing arguing Brown-Madison should be held without bail as no conditions of release could protect the victim or public and requested to have his bail revoked on the open Plymouth County Superior Court gun and drug case.  The Court denied both of the Commonwealth’s requests and set bail at $2,500 along with a curfew, to stay away and have no contact with the victim, and abide by conditions of the restraining order.

“This is yet another example of the Court releasing a dangerous defendant for no rational reason. The defendant was already out on bail on a very serious case in Plymouth Superior Court and has a terrible record.  He is charged with stabbing a woman in Taunton yet is released on that case.  This an abuse of discretion by the Court, which endangers the public and or victims.  This highlights why the public continue to lack confidence in the justice system because some judges continue to release dangerous criminals back on the street with no accountability,” District Attorney Tom Quinn said.
