A Bristol County teen is accused of stealing a vehicle from a car dealership and then running from police.

According to police, at approximately 3:30 p.m., Norwood PD received a call about a stolen motor vehicle from Boch Nissan.

Units responded to the dealership and began searching the area. Officers located the vehicle in the area now with a license plate attached. The operator saw police and took off at a high rate of speed before officers lost sight of the vehicle. Officers continued searching and found the vehicle again before it again took off at a high rate of speed. Officers continued searching the area when a witness informed them the vehicle had pulled behind a building and the operator had fled on foot. Officers began searching the area, located the vehicle and observed the male had discarded his sweatshirt.

The male, later identified as 18-year-old Avante Dos Santos Teixeira of Taunton, was observed inside Mr. Franks gas station. Teixeira saw the officers and began walking away onto Walnut St before being apprehended. Teixeira eventually was placed in custody and transported back to the station.

As a result, Teixeira has been charged with Larceny of a Motor Vehicle, Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Fail to Stop for Police, and Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle.
