Bridgewater State University college student seriously injured after being hit by train
A Bridgewater State University student has suffered multiple serious injuries after being hit by an MBTA train recently.
On the night of Friday January 27th, rescue crews responded for a person underneath the Green Line Trolley at the Boston University Central Station. Several agencies from Boston successfully rescued 20-year-old Ava Harlow, however, she suffered injuries including a fractured arm, crushed pelvis, a fractured skull, and a partial leg amputation.
Harlow was visiting friends in Boston at the time of the incident when she reportedly lost her balance.
According to a GoFundMe fundraiser that has raised over $32,000 as of this writing, in addition to being an honor student at Bridgewater State University, Harlow “graduated from Amesbury High School where she was a basketball and field hockey star.”
Harlow has been described as “a bright and promising college sophomore who’d hoped to pursue a career in Intelligence. She’s hardworking, smart, funny, and has a big heart.”
Harlow’s father thanked personnel for rescuing Ava but told the Boston Herald that he believes the incident could have been prevented.
“He could have saw that she was banging on the friggin’ side of the car and not pulled away. They have mirrors. They have horns. They’re supposed to toot the horn before they take off.”
Harlow has a long road ahead of her including travel, therapy, and in-home care.

What was she doing banging on the side of the car before the accident? Was she drinking alcohol when out with her friends? I suspect there is more to this story.
