Breakfast, lunch, and dinner spot in Fall River has announced they have closed; here’s why
A breakfast, lunch, and dinner spot in Fall River has closed.
NY Fresh Bagel & Bakery announced on social media on Tuesday that they have closed.
Their statement is as follows:
“On behalf of NY Fresh Bagel & Bakery, I would like to take this opportunity to express our heartfelt gratitude to the wonderful Fall River community (02721). Over the past one and a half years, it has been our greatest honor to serve you, share our fresh bagels, baked goods, and smiles every day.
“From the very beginning, we were welcomed with warmth, kindness, and encouragement. Many of you became more than just customers—you became friends and part of our extended family. For that, we are forever thankful.
“Unfortunately, as much as we have tried, our business here has not been able to grow to the level we had hoped. After careful consideration and much thought, we have made the difficult decision to close our doors. This was not an easy choice for us, as Fall River has been such a special place, and the support we received from this community will always remain in our hearts.
“We want to sincerely thank every single one of you who supported us—whether by stopping in for breakfast, grabbing a coffee on your way to work, recommending us to others, or simply offering a kind word. Your support has meant the world to us and kept us going through the challenges.
“Though this chapter is closing, we will always proudly remember that we had the privilege to serve the people of Fall River for one and a half years. We carry with us nothing but gratitude, respect, and warm memories.
“From the bottom of our hearts, thank you, Fall River.”
NY Fresh Bagel & Bakery opened at the former Katrina’s Bakery at 248 Jefferson Street in March of 2024 and had announced in July of this year the spot was up for sale.
Current owner Md Shahidul Islam told Fall River Reporter at the time his reasoning for putting the business on the market.
“It’s really challenging to run two businesses at the same time. My bagel business operates from morning until lunchtime, while my Indian restaurant, Monalessa’s Kitchen, runs from lunch through dinner. To manage both, I have to work from early morning—around 6:30 a.m.—until 10:30 p.m. at night. It’s definitely difficult to keep up with both. That’s why I’ve decided to focus on just one business for now.”
Monalessa’s Kitchen opened across the street in March of this year.
