The suspect and Massachusetts State Trooper have been identified concerning an incident that occurred on Monday.
According to Massachusetts State Police, shortly before 5:00 p.m., a motorcycle struck a State Trooper outside of his cruiser on Revere Beach Boulevard in front of the Revere Barracks. As a result of the collision, the Trooper was propelled approximately 45 feet and seriously injured.
State Police Crime Scene Services Section and the Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section responded to the scene.
Preliminary information indicates that the motorcycle was stolen.
The suspect is identified as Akram El Moukhtari, 18, of Revere. He is expected to be arraigned at Chelsea District Court on charges including assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, receiving a stolen vehicle, and leaving the scene of personal injury. The timing of the arraignment is not known at this time.
The Massachusetts State Police identified the injured Trooper as Lieutenant Donald Bossi, Station Commander of the Revere Barracks.
Lieutenant Bossi remains in stable, but critical, condition under the care of the medical team at Massachusetts General Hospital.
The Bossi Family thanked the public and Lieutenant Bossi’s colleagues at the Barracks and across the job for their outpouring of support. They respectfully request privacy at this time while they focus on Lieutenant Bossi’s recovery.
“The Massachusetts State Police would like to express our appreciation for the public support of Lieutenant Donald Bossi, his family, and our Department in the aftermath of this terrible incident. Yesterday’s senseless crash could have proven fatal if not for the resilience and extraordinary strength of Lieutenant Bossi, and the care he received on scene, in transit, and at the hospital. Our community is safer because of the many Troopers who set their feelings aside in the aftermath of this event to do their jobs and meet the moment by apprehending the fleeing suspect. We remain very grateful for these positive developments.” – Colonel Geoffrey Noble
