The Boston Bruins Foundation and the Professional Fire Fighters of Massachusetts (PFFM) Foundation will host their 8th annual “Operation Warm” coat drive to provide winter gear including coats and hats to children in need across Massachusetts. This year, the organizations are expanding “Operation Warm,” committing $105,000 toward the purchase of brand-new winter essentials.
Fall River Fire Fighters Local 1314 will be one of the beneficiaries and will distribute 250 new warm winter coats to the Dorian Elementary School and Fall River Public Schools. The coats will be delivered via fire truck to the school on Friday. Children will be able to choose a new warm winter coat and hat and write their name on the special tag.
“The Boston Bruins Foundation is proud to expand our ‘Operation Warm’ program with the Professional Fire Fighters of Massachusetts Foundation to provide winter clothing to local youth in need,” said Boston Bruins Foundation President Bob Sweeney. “We know the next few months can be challenging for families, so through ‘Operation Warm’ we hope to alleviate some of their stress. Thank you to the Boys & Girls Clubs and all the local organizations for supporting us in this mission.”
“The Boston Bruins Foundation has been our partner in ‘Operation Warm’ for the past several years and we are grateful for their support,” said Professional Fire Fighters of Massachusetts President Rich MacKinnon. “Our members respond to tragedies and heartbreaking calls on shift far too often, so being able to deliver joy and hope to children in our community, especially during the holidays, is why we look forward to this program year after year.”
“Operation Warm” 2025 will make 12 stops across Massachusetts, delivering winter coats to schools and non-profits in Beverly, Brockton, Chelsea, Dorchester, Fall River, Hadley, Lawrence, Lynn, Palmer, Roxbury, Whitman and Worcester.
