Bomb squad personnel responds to Massachusetts home after three pound round found at home
Massachusetts explosive ordnance disposal specialists never know what the day’s mission might be and yesterday was one of those interesting days.
According to Massachusetts State Police, State Police Bomb Squad Troopers had to handle a piece of ordnance that might have been manufactured for use against German tanks in North Africa or Normandy.
Troopers responded to a Peabody residence after the homeowner discovered an apparent piece of military ordnance in the house while cleaning.
Troopers examined the object and performed x-ray diagnostics, and determined it was an old three-pound British armor-piercing round. The round was approximately 10” long, 3” diameter with an inert cone.
The Bomb Squad determined safe disposal was necessary, and secured the round and took it to a disposal site, where they countercharged it without incident.
