Body of 24-year-old woman located after falling from jet ski at Long Pond

LAKEVILLE — Chief Matthew Perkins reports that rescuers located the body of a missing jet ski passenger from Long Pond early Wednesday morning.

The Lakeville Police and Fire Departments responded at about 6:00 p.m. Tuesday to Long Pond, in the area of Nelson Island and Big Beach in response to reports that a passenger had fallen from a jet ski. Lakeville was assisted at the scene by the Massachusetts State Police Air Wing, the Southeastern Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council Dive Team, the Plymouth County Dive Team, and the Massachusetts Environmental Police.

Authorities located the body of a 24-year-old Brockton woman at approximately 12:30 a.m. Wednesday. Her name is not being released at this time.

The incident is under investigation by Lakeville Police, the Massachusetts Environmental Police, and State Police Detectives assigned to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office.
