A local singer is going from singing babysitter to Hollywood.

Delaney Renee Wilson of Berkley received her golden ticket to Hollywood from American Idol during Sunday’s episode.

Wilson, who has attended the Berklee College of Music, became an internet sensation after a video of her singing “Part of Your World” from The Little Mermaid while babysitting for Somerset’s Nicki Maher went viral in 2021.

Before Wilson sang for Katy Perry, Lionel Richie, and Luke Bryan, Maher, who posted the video with Wilson’s permission, told the judges and Ryan Seacrest that the video exploded hitting 18 million views which quickly caught the attention of the hit singing competition.

Once Wilson sang “Opportunity” by Sia for the three judges, it was clear where Wilson was headed. While the three agreed that Wilson needs to add some grit to her young sounding voice, it was a unanimous yes which led to an embrace between Wilson and Maher.

While Wilson may owe Maher for her early fame and eventual golden ticket, it is clear that Wilson has the chops to go far with her hard work and gifted pipes.

The Fall River area and beyond will be pulling for the 19-year-old.
