BayCoast Insurance to host free Community Shred Day event on Saturday, May 4
SWANSEA, MA – Do you have old bills, bank statements or other sensitive documents piling up in your home? Have them safely and securely destroyed at BayCoast Insurance’s Free Community Shred Day, happening on Saturday, May 4, 2024.
The public is invited to the annual event, which will be held rain or shine from 9:00 am to noon at the BayCoast Insurance office located at 560 Wilbur Avenue (Route 103) in Swansea, Massachusetts. Simply bring up to two boxes of documents to be shredded and the mobile on-site shred truck will immediately destroy your personal information. If you need help with your boxes, volunteers will be available to assist you.
Shredding your personal documents can help prevent you from becoming a victim of identity theft, which is a serious crime affecting millions of Americans every year, as a growing number of thieves attempt to steal sensitive information to commit fraud. To protect yourself, you may want to consider having common household documents properly destroyed. These documents may include tax records, old bills and bank statements, credit card statements, and canceled checks.
“According to the United States Department of Justice, identity theft is one of the nation’s fastest growing crimes,” said Patrick D. Long, President and CEO of BayCoast Insurance. “Having your identity stolen may not only damage your credit status but cost you time and money to restore your good name. To help protect yourself, we invite members of the South Coast community to participate in our Free Shred Day Event on May 4th. The process of having your documents shredded is easy and convenient, and may help give you peace of mind,” adds Long.
BayCoast Insurance is also accepting donations for Gifts to Give, a local nonprofit organization that assists children in need. Please consider bringing new and gently used clothing as well as hygiene products for babies, toddlers, and teenagers to the BayCoast Insurance office at 560 Wilbur Avenue in Swansea, now through May 4, 2024. For a complete list of items in need, please visit Gifts to Give.
