Baby dies in East Providence dog attack
A baby has died from a dog attack from earlier this week.
According to East Providence Police, on July 16th at approximately 2:45 p.m., East Providence Police responded to Brookhaven Drive for the report of a disturbance that was determined to be a child bitten by a dog.
Upon arrival, officers located a 15-month-old girl with significant injuries.
Police and Fire instituted life-saving procedures and had the baby transported to Hasbro Children’s Hospital. The baby died shortly after arriving at the hospital.
Two adults were transported to Rhode Island Hospital for serious injuries due to attempting to intervene in the attack.
Police stated that he pit bull type breed was injured by family members trying to stop the attack.
The dog belonged to the family residing at the home and the pet was euthanized.
The case remains under investigation.
