Authorities searching for suspect after Plymouth County pedestrian killed after being hit by two vehicles
A Plymouth County pedestrian was struck and killed by a motorist last evening, Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz has announced.
At approximately 6:45 p.m., Massachusetts State Police were notified by Brockton Police of a motor vehicle crash in front of 690 North Quincy resulting in the death of a pedestrian. The male victim was transported to South Shore Hospital in Weymouth where he was pronounced dead. He has been identified as 70-year-old Leland Thompson, 70 of Brockton.
Preliminarily, the investigation has found that Thompson was attempting to cross the roadway when he was struck by a motorist operating a blue Buick Enclave. The motorist immediately stopped his motor vehicle and was making attempts to stop traffic in the area when a second motor vehicle, a white Jeep Wrangler, appeared to make contact with the lower portion of Thompson. The white Jeep Wrangler did not stop, and investigators are looking to identify the Jeep and its operator.
The investigation is ongoing.
