Authorities searching for alleged armed and dangerous shooter in fatal Massachusetts Dollar Tree shooting
BROCKTON – Massachusetts State Police and Brockton Police continue to search for the man wanted in connection with a brazen, daytime shooting that left one man dead and another man injured, Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz has announced.
Just before 1:30 p.m. yesterday, Brockton Police received a 911 call reporting gunshots that were heard inside the Dollar Tree store located at 999 North Montello Street.
Upon arrival, Brockton Police and emergency medical personnel located two male victims suffering from gunshot wounds. Both men were transported to Good Samaritan Hospital for treatment. One man died as a result of his injuries. He has been identified as 38-year-old Dongbin Pyon of East Boston.
Brockton Police contacted Massachusetts State Police troopers assigned to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office and an investigation began. As a result of the investigation, police sought and obtained an arrest warrant for 32-year-old Luis Soto. Soto was a former employee of the Dollar Tree store. Cruz stated that preliminarily, this does not appear to be a random act of violence.
After the shooting, Soto fled the store scene and remains at large. His car has been located. He is to be considered armed and dangerous.
Anyone with information on Soto or the Brockton shooting should contact Massachusetts State Police or Brockton Police.
