A Middleborough man is being held without bail following his arraignment on charges of fatally stabbing a man, according to Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy Cruz.

Andrew Horsman, 41, pleaded not guilty to one count of murder during his arraignment today in Wareham District Court, where he was ordered held without bail.

The incident began around 8:00 p.m. on Saturday when Middleborough Police received multiple 911 calls reporting a fight and a stabbing at a residence on 19 Fairview Street.

Responding officers and emergency personnel found a man with multiple stab wounds, later identified as 66-year-old Paul Pomerleau, who was transported to Morton Hospital and pronounced dead at 8:52 p.m.

Witness interviews led Middleborough Police to identify and arrest Horsman near the scene without incident.

Massachusetts State Police Detectives assigned to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office were contacted, and an investigation began. Witnesses reported that an argument over a steak dinner at the home escalated to the stabbing, with a steak knife found near Pomerleau’s body.

Investigators determined Pomerleau suffered 17 stab wounds, and after the attack, Horsman allegedly poured lighter fluid on the victim’s body.

Pomerleau had been in a long-term relationship with Horsman’s mother.

Horsman’s next court appearance is scheduled for July 28, 2025.

The investigation remains active and ongoing.
