The man shot multiple times as he exited the home of a friend on Sturtevant Avenue in Norwood last evening did not survive.
The next of kin notification process having been completed, the victim is now identified as Shakim L. Lewis-Johnson, age 28, of Hyde Park, Mass.
Norwood police were alerted to the sound of multiple gunshots shortly after 5 p.m. Responding officers found Mr. Lewis-Johnson with obvious wounds. Due to the seriousness of the injuries, he was transported to the Massachusetts General Hospital by medical evacuation helicopter. He did not survive emergency surgery.
Norwood Police detectives and Massachusetts State Police homicide detectives attached to Norfolk District Attorney Michael W. Morrissey’s office investigated through the night and the investigation remains ongoing. The Crime Scene Services Section of the Massachusetts State Police processed the scene last evening.
Initial investigation suggests that the shooter left the scene and that there is no ongoing threat to residents in the Sturtevant Avenue area related to this incident.
“We are working closely with Chief William Brooks and the Norwood Police department,” District Attorney Morrissey said.
