Authorities release name of victim and suspect in fatal Rochester shooting
Officials have released the name of the suspect and victim in a fatal shooting Friday night in Rochester.
According to Beth Stone of the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office, at approximately 10:30 p.m. last night, Rochester Police responded to 259 New Bedford Road for a report of gunshots.
Upon arrival at the home, first responders located a man suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was transported to St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford where he was pronounced dead of his injuries. He has been identified as 41-year-old Justin Doberck of Mattapoisett.
Rochester Police contacted Massachusetts State Police assigned to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office to begin the investigation. As a result, investigators identified 34-year-old Cody Perry of Rochester as a suspect, and he was taken into custody.
According to Rochester Police, the shooting resulted from an argument and Perry was still on scene.
The investigation is ongoing.
