Authorities release name of 29-year-old from New Bedford who suffered life-threatening injuries in multi-vehicle crash
NORTH HAMPTON, NH – Four people were seriously injured in a multi-vehicle crash that led to the closure of Interstate 95 for multiple hours.
At 5:10 p.m. on Sunday, Troopers from the Troop A barracks responded to a reported collision involving three vehicles on I-95 southbound in North Hampton.
The preliminary investigation determined that a 2009 Toyota Avalon, driven by Jaceline Miranda Gomes, 29, of New Bedford, Massachusetts, collided with a 2018 GMC Sierra, driven by Anthony Crudale, 33, of Plaistow. This initial crash led the Toyota Avalon to cross the center median and into the opposing southbound lanes of travel. The Toyota Avalon then collided with a 2019 Toyota Tacoma driven by Sandy Herbert, 71, of Newburyport, Massachusetts.
Gomes, along with an adult passenger, suffered life-threatening injuries. Herbert, as well as a juvenile passenger in Gomes’ vehicle, were seriously injured. Crudale was not hurt.
This crash resulted in a temporary complete shutdown of I-95 southbound while emergency personnel cared for the people who were injured during the incident. The left lane reopened around 6 p.m., and all lanes were back open around 10 p.m.
Troopers were assisted at the scene by members of North Hampton Fire Rescue, Greenland Fire Department, Hampton Fire Rescue, Rye Fire Rescue, Seabrook Fire Department, Portsmouth fire and police departments, and the New Hampshire Department of Transportation.
The crash remains under investigation by the New Hampshire State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction (CAR) Unit. Anyone with information that may assist the investigation is asked to contact Trooper Eryn Murphy at Eryn.K.Murphy@dos.nh.gov.
