Authorities release more details, identity of 7-year-old boy who drowned at Rhode Island beach

The Warwick Police Department has continued its investigation into the incident that occurred on Friday at Conimicut Point Beach involving a juvenile who was pulled from the water unresponsive.

At this time, the investigation remains ongoing. However, based on information reviewed to date, the following additional information has been released:

A seven-year-old male, identified as Aston Jemson, was at Conimicut Point Beach with his mother and younger sister on Friday afternoon. Aston had been playing in the water on the south side of Conimicut Point.

According to the investigation, Aston’s younger sister complained of an upset stomach. While his mother was attending to her daughter, she observed Aston lying face down in the water and noticed that he was not responding when she called his name.

Witnesses reported that Aston’s mother immediately ran into the water, pulled him to shore, and began CPR. Multiple bystanders assisted with CPR and called 911 prior to the arrival of emergency personnel.

No other information was released.

The Warwick Police Department extended its thoughts and deepest condolences to the family and all those impacted.
