Authorities release more details, continue investigation, after Brockton woman found deceased in yard
BROCKTON – Massachusetts State Police and East Bridgewater Police continue to investigate the unattended death of a woman found dead outside in a yard, Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy Cruz and East Bridgewater Police Chief Michael Jenkins have announced.
At approximately 9:24 a.m. on Sunday, East Bridgewater Police received a 911 call from a woman stating that there was a person unconscious and partially clothed in her side yard at Belmont Street.
Upon arrival, East Bridgewater Police and Fire located a female face down on the grass. The woman was determined deceased at the scene. She has been identified as 42-year-old Nicole Swan of Brockton.
East Bridgewater Police contacted Massachusetts State Police Detectives assigned to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office and began the investigation. Authorities stated that the investigation is active and ongoing, but preliminarily, this does not appear to have been a random act and there is no threat to public safety.
A family member of Swan stated that the family wants answers and justice. “Who did this to her is still out there.”
The state Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has accepted jurisdiction and will determine the manner and cause of death.
