Authorities release identity of 25-year-old woman killed in late night fiery crash
Authorities have released the name of a local woman killed in a crash earlier this week.
According to police, in the late evening hours of Tuesday, a 25-year-old from Lincoln, RI, Emma Bates, was operating her vehicle on West Wrentham Road in Cumberland when it left the roadway and struck a large tree. The vehicle quickly became engulfed in flames and, as a result, Emma was found deceased at the scene.
Chief Benson provides, “On behalf of the Cumberland Police Department, I offer my condolences to Emma’s family, friends, and loved ones in this incredibly tragic situation. I’d also like to publicly recognize the local resident who heard the initial crash and attempted to assist before it became too dangerous for their own safety and also the police, fire, EMS and communications personnel that participated in the coordinated response.”
The crash remains under investigation at this time by Cumberland PD crash reconstruction members.
