A multi-agency patrol nabbed nearly 20 illegal dirt bike operators from Massachusetts and 1 from Florida in a 24-hour period.
According to the department, a multi-agency patrol of officers from the Falmouth Police Department, Falmouth Department of Marine and Environmental Services, and the Massachusetts Environmental Police stopped 19 illegal off-road dirt bikes within 24 hours.
Departments have joined forces over recent months to step up enforcement after many complaints involving property damage, trespassing, and unsafe operation on public roadways. These concerns culminated in this significant enforcement action, which took place over the weekend.
During the investigation, it was discovered that riders were traveling to Falmouth from throughout southeastern Massachusetts. Riders hailed from Fall River, Framingham, Hyannis, Marstons Mills, Dennis, Milford, Nantucket, and Deerfield Beach, Florida. Various citations were issued to riders.
Over the coming months, multi-agency patrols will continue. Illegal riding and property damage can result in citations, arrest, and equipment and vehicles being towed and held.
