Authorities identify 47-year-old man killed in Rhode Island afternoon motorcycle crash

A local man is dead after a Rhode Island motorcycle crash Friday afternoon.

At just before 5:30 p.m. a call came into dispatch for a motorcycle crash on Boston Neck Road in Narragansett.

According to police and WJAR 10, 47-year-old Patrick Sweeney was traveling southbound on Boston Neck Road on his motorcycle when he tried passing southbound traffic while traveling in the northbound lane. He then struck a pickup truck as it was turning onto Conanicut Road.

Sweeney was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The truck driver remained on scene and was cooperating with police.
