Authorities capture 23-year-old wanted in double murder outside Massachusetts Chipotle
After nearly a year on the run, law enforcement captured a suspect wanted in a March 2025 double homicide in Brockton.
According to Brockton Police, officers partnered with the Massachusetts State Police and the U.S. Marshals Service to locate Davinci Leonard, 23, after he fled Massachusetts following the fatal shooting of two individuals outside of 500 Westgate Drive.
Detectives tracked Leonard to Mexico. On Thursday, February 12, 2026, members of the U.S. Marshals Service and Mexican authorities took him into custody.
Leonard remains in custody in San Diego and will soon arrive in Brockton to face two counts of murder and related firearm charges.
On March 22nd, Brockton Police received a 911 call for a report of a shooting outside the Chipotle located at 500 Westgate Drive.
Upon arrival, first responders located two victims, a male and a female, suffering from gunshot wounds. Both were transported to Good Samaritan Hospital.
The male victim was pronounced deceased at the hospital. He has been identified as 15-year-old Tymari Albertson. The female victim was medflighted to Massachusetts General Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries. She has been identified as 18-year-old Cevannah Alvarez. The victims were not related.
Brockton Police contacted the Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit assigned to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office and began the investigation.
After an around-the-clock investigation, which included witness interviews, review of video surveillance footage, and an extensive canvass of the scene, investigators developed information and sought and obtained an arrest warrant for Leonard. The Commonwealth Fusion Center composed a BOLO that was distributed to area-wide law enforcement agencies.
Police sought and obtained an arrest warrant out of Brockton District Court for Leonard, charging him with two counts of Murder, and one count each of Carrying a Loaded Firearm, and Carrying a Loaded Firearm Without a License.
Preliminarily, it appears that an altercation occurred in the parking lot in front of the Chipotle restaurant between Leonard and Albertson prior to the fatal shooting.
Jaylen Speed of Dorchester is accused of providing his cell phone to Leonard for him to communicate with others while making initial steps to evade capture. Speed was also seen in the company of Leonard and 32-year-old Quincy man David Mosley-Lott by witnesses the day after the double homicide. It is alleged Speed continued to allow Leonard to use his cell phone on March 23. Both men were previously arraigned.
