Attleboro Fire Department responds to crash that damages porch, fence, parked vehicles

ATTLEBORO — The Attleboro Fire Department responded Saturday morning after a vehicle struck two parked vehicles before crashing into the porch of a South Main Street home.

According to the department, at approximately 6:00 a.m., crews responded to 314 South Main St. for a report of a vehicle into a building.

Upon arrival, firefighters found three damaged vehicles near the home’s porch. Crews also found debris from a fence that had been struck during the crash scattered throughout the area.

The investigation determined that a vehicle traveling on South Main Street struck two parked vehicles before coming to rest against the porch.

The driver was evaluated at the scene by Attleboro Fire Department paramedics and declined transport to the hospital.

The collision damaged several porch supports. The Attleboro Building Department was requested to the scene to evaluate the damage. No structural damage to the home was identified, and the occupants were able to return inside. Repairs to the porch will be necessary.

“The home’s natural gas service is located just feet from the porch and the path of the crash,” District Chief Michael Maitland said. “Fortunately, neither the vehicle nor the debris struck those lines. Damage to the gas service could have significantly changed the scope of this incident. We’re thankful the damage was limited and no one was seriously injured.”

Attleboro Fire Department personnel remained on scene until approximately 6:35 a.m.

The Attleboro Police Department is investigating the cause of the crash.
