Attleboro Fire Department responded to rollover crash with injuries that shutdown roadway

ATTLEBORO — Chief Scott Lachance reports that the Attleboro Fire Department responded Monday morning to a rollover crash in which a vehicle struck and snapped a utility pole, resulting in a temporary road closure.

At approximately 8:10 a.m., Attleboro Fire responded to the area of 866 South Main Street (Route 152) for a report of a motor vehicle crash.

Upon arrival, firefighters found a single vehicle resting on its roof. The sole occupant had self-extricated from the car with assistance from bystanders before the arrival of emergency personnel.

Firefighters and paramedics provided immediate care and transported the driver via an Advanced Life Support ambulance to Rhode Island Hospital. The driver is believed to have suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

The crash caused significant damage to a utility pole, which was broken into three sections. National Grid crews are currently on scene working to replace the damaged pole. A portion of South Main Street near the crash site remains closed, with a detour in place to assist with traffic flow.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Attleboro Police Department.
