As one splash pad opens, a pool closes
Today hot area residents rejoiced as the Father Travassos splash pad opened for the season. A local pool, however, is closed until further notice.
Starting Thursday, June 27, 2019, the Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) will close Freetown Wading Pool indefinitely due to a water leak at the facility. The agency is currently investigating the issue and will begin the process for repairs once the source of the leak has been determined.
The Father Travassos splash pad is located on Alden Street. The Vietnam Veterans Memorial Swimming Pool & Spray Deck at Lafayette Park on Eastern Avenue is open Sunday – Friday:
11:15 a.m.-6:45 p.m.
