Arrests made concerning murder of 20-year-old Massachusetts man Robert Wright-Day, services announced

FITCHBURG – A Fitchburg man is being charged with murder and two others are being charged with assault and battery in connection with the stabbing death of 20-year-old Robert Wright-Day in Leominster on Tuesday, according to Worcester County District Attorney Joseph Early, Jr.

Juan Diaz Contreras, 19, was arrested Thursday night without incident at his home in Fitchburg after police sought a warrant for his arrest.

Two others were also arrested on warrants as a result of the investigation, including Edgar K. Perez-Tuero, 21, of Gardner, and Christian Joel Santiago, 19, of Leominster.

All three men were arraigned Friday in Fitchburg District Court.

Just before 1 a.m. on Tuesday, Leominster Police responded to the report of a stabbing outside of the Riverside Village Apartment complex on State Street.

Upon arrival, officers found Wright-Day suffering from a stab wound. He was transported to Leominster Hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.

Family members say that Wright Day was a graduate of Leominster high school and known as a star football player while attending Athol High School.

An obituary stated that Wright Day “was a beacon of humility, love, thoughtfulness, and compassion. Despite his young age, Robert’s impact on those around him was profound, leaving a lasting impression on everyone he encountered. His love for football, and basketball, and writing his own rap music brought joy to his life and those around him. Most importantly, he valued his family above all else, a testament to his loving nature.”

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, 14 May 2024, from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Mack Family Funeral Homes, 105 Central Street, Gardner, Massachusetts, 01440. A Funeral Service will be conducted on Wednesday, 15 May 2024, at 11:00 am. in the Funeral home Interment will follow at Wildwood Cemetery at noon.

The agencies investigating this case include the Leominster Police Department, the Fitchburg Police Department, the State Police Detectives assigned to the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office, Massachusetts State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section, Massachusetts State Police Crime Scene Services, and Massachusetts State Police Forensic Scientists.
