Arrest made involving investigation into triple Fall River shooting
Several area police departments combined to make an arrest on multiple charges concerning the investigation into a Fall River triple shooting.
As reported previously, on Sunday, October 27th, 2019 at approximately 11:15 p.m., Uniformed Officers of the Fall River Police Department were dispatched to the area of 164 Tremont Street for a report of multiple shots fired.
In addition, there was also a 911 call placed by the victims after they fled the area of that shooting stating they were on Columbia Street and in need of immediate medical attention. Officers were able to find the shooting victims and begin treatment while waiting for paramedics.
The three victims, two men and a woman, were transported at the time to Rhode Island Hospital with serious injuries.
Officers located nine 7.62 caliber shell casings in the area of 164 Tremont Street.
Fall River Police Department’s Major Crime Division, led by Detectives Luis Vertentes, along with the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office, has been actively investigating the shooting and as a result, Detective Vertentes obtained two search warrants for residences in Bridgewater and Lakeville, Massachusetts.
As a result of the ongoing investigation into the triple shooting, Lakeville Police and S.E.M.L.E.C. SWAT Officers assisted Fall River Detectives with the execution of a warrant in the Kensington Court apartments. As a result, officers located a loaded stolen handgun. Mervin Dixon, 21, of 2 Commercial Drive, apartment 8204, was placed into custody and is charged by Lakeville Police with the following:
Possession of a large capacity firearm
Possession of large capacity feeding device
Illegal possession of firearm without FID
Carry firearm without license 2nd offense
Illegal possession of ammunition without FID
Improper storage of firearm with minor present
Receiving stolen property (firearm)
Lakeville Police Sergeant Ryan Maltais was the arresting/investigating Officer for Lakeville.
Dixon was arraigned in the Wareham District Court on Thursday November 14.
Charges from a warrant in Bridgewater are also forthcoming after ammunition and drugs were located at the residence of 45 Wood Street.
