Arrest made in arson investigation of Norton blaze

Police made an arrest Wednesday in an arson investigation concerning a serious fire from last week.

According to the Norton Police Department, Norton Police Detectives arrested a 17 year old male, from Norton, and charged him with arson for the recent fire in the vacant building at 138 Barrows Street in Norton. After the fire at the former Tweave building on May 13th, Norton Police Detectives began conducting an investigation, assisted by the Norton Fire Department, Massachusetts State Police assigned to the Massachusetts Fire Marshal’s Office and the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office.

After further investigation, Norton Detectives uncovered information leading to the arrest today. A search warrant was issued and served at the home of the male suspect. Members of the Northern Bristol County Task Force assisted Norton Detectives with the service of the search warrant. The suspect was then placed under arrest at approximately 3:30pm today. He is being held on $250,000 cash bail and will be arraigned at a later date.

The investigation is ongoing.
