It had been rumored for many months, but today it was made official.

The Massachusetts Effect football organization officially announced that Driscoll Arena in Fall River will be the home arena for their inaugural season.

Owner and head coach Douglas Barry is excited.

“Driscoll Arena features an intimate setting for fans to enjoy the game of indoor football up and close.”

All home games, both Elite Indoor Football league games, which is the arena league that Massachusetts Effect plays in, and any additional out-of-league games, will be played out of Fall River.

The full 2020 schedule will be released soon. According to the EIF website, the Effect will open their season on March 28th, in Middlebury, Vermont.

Massachusetts Effect, Inc. also formally announced this morning that they have joined the SouthCoast Chamber of Commerce. The Effect is a non-profit football team.

“We are excited as an organization to operate in the Fall River and South Coast area. As a football team, we want to ensure that we give back to the community and foster a growing and professional community for our athletes and fans. As a non-profit organization, we are approaching indoor football from a different angle than has been taken by other organizations in the New England area in the past. We want to give back to the community and foster a family-friendly atmosphere that will last.”
