Another contractor in Massachusetts charged with taking money for work that was never started

Police in Massachusetts have charged another contractor with accepting money from a client for work that he allegedly did not perform.

According to Chief John Dunn, on July 13, a Hull Police officer spoke with a resident who reported that they had contacted 53-year-old Jeno Commesso, who was working for a company called JAC Property Maintenance, to complete work on their house and deck.

Commesso allegedly accepted a $262.50 deposit for the work in May. From May to July, the agreed upon work was never started. The resident then hired a different contractor to do the work and attempted to get their deposit back. The resident made numerous attempts to get their deposit back from Commesso, but was not successful.

Commesso was charged with Larceny Under $1,200 by False Pretense (Misdemeanor) and Larceny Over $250 from a Person Age 60+/Disabled Person (Felony).

Commesso was summonsed to court and was arraigned in Hingham District Court on Tuesday, Nov. 1.

Police say that similar incidents are under investigation in nearby communities and anyone who believes they may have been victimized is encouraged to contact their local police department. Hull residents can call the Hull Police Department at 781-925-1212.

In October, a contractor wanted in several Mass. communities was arrested for allegedly taking large deposits and performing no work.

In May, a Massachusetts contractor was accused of victimizing over 100 homeowners and cheating customers of over $1 million.
