All members of the 2024 NBA Championship Boston Celtics signed a basketball for a Fall River school, here is why
A piece of Massachusetts basketball history will be at a Fall River school.
Representatives from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education will present students and staff of the James Tansey Elementary School a basketball signed by the 2024 NBA Championship Boston Celtics.
The ball is in recognition of the school’s efforts to reduce chronic absenteeism among students.
Tansey Elementary School was named an Attendance All-Star school by the state and is one of the top 10 in the commonwealth in terms of improvement.
The 18-time NBA champions, the Boston Celtics, agreed to donate a signed basketball to each of the 10 schools that showed the greatest gains.
The Tansey School community will accept the signed basketball during the school’s annual back-to-school ice cream social on Tuesday, August 27th. Ice cream will be provided by Cool Licks Ice Cream truck due to a donation by Senator Michael Rodrigues and Representative Carole Fiola.
