AK-47, 9 empty magazines, stolen from local home

Portsmouth Police are investigating a theft of an AK-47 semi-automatic rifle that was reported stolen from a home.

Investigators believe the theft may have occurred in the last two months but was not reported until Tuesday.

The rifle, which was taken from a North Drive residence, was engraved with the word “Sasha” on the wood fore grip.

The rifle is also described as a Kalashnikov model 47 with a bluing upper and lower receiver and black plastic pistol grip. The gun also has a side folded metal rear butt stock.

Also stolen were nine empty magazines for the firearm.
